3 Men and a Little Crazy

Remember, as far as anyone knows, we are a nice, normal family.

Thank You, Carly

    Lisa,

I teach 9th grade and have an 8 year old. I think technology is the devil. Ha As a result my daughter has lost her iPad for the rest of the summer because she has forgotten how to do anything other than stare at a screen.

True social interaction is a thing of the past with this generation. Gah, that makes me sound old.

I think the games have ramped up because they don’t actually have to say it to each other ‘s face. Games were played when we were in school because we were afraid of face to face rejection. These kids have no fear because you can say anything when you are hiding behind a screen.

I also believe this technology without supervision has led to kids who know WAY too much, but lack the adult guidance to know how to use that information. It leads to broken hearts and lots of regret. I counsel girls all the time at school who didn’t think before they sent “that picture” or posted “that comment”.

I think as long as the adults are teaching kids responsiblity these things will get better.

I hope things get better for your son. High school stinks! Tell him to keep in mind that when it really matters girls want to marry the good guy. 🙂

Trina, well said! As a matter of fact, your comment about the reason that the psychological games have ramped up nowadays is spot-on. I told Brennan this, and he agreed. I also told him that girls tend to be attracted to the “bad guys”, but ultimately when it comes to getting serious, they do want the good guy. We’re dummies sometimes, and it takes getting our heart broken a lot before we do finally realize that we need a good guy.
Honestly, I think it will even worsen with my 8-year old’s generation. He would rather play with online friends with real friends a lot of times, and you can see how it affects him by the way that he talks. He uses a lot of computer/video game jargon, and it’s all he wants to talk about! Technology has taken over at this point, and it will only get better and more sophisticated as time goes on – so we’d better get used to it! 😝
